CATALOG, a Boston-based pioneering startup, is making significant strides in the field of data storage and computation by harnessing the power of DNA. DNA, known for its millennia-long stability, unrivaled information density, and cost-effective replicability, offers revolutionary potential for latency-tolerant high-density data storage and massively parallel computation. We are actively seeking a motivated R&D Software Engineer with a passion for breaking new ground in technology. As part of our R&D team, you'll be at the heart of our operations, working on the DNA computation pipelines in close collaboration with research, chemistry, and hardware engineering teams. 

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the development of high-performance software that implements the CATALOG computing architecture
  • Adapt and implement data structures and algorithms for our unconventional computing platform
  • Write high-performance, easily understandable code and create clear, concise technical documentation
  • Work independently, think critically, and tackle new problems in a groundbreaking field

We are looking for someone with experience in the following areas:

  • Algorithm and data structures via coursework or R&D
  • Software development in an R&D environment, with CUDA development experience as a plus
  • Proficiency in programming with Python and C/C++, and familiarity with Linux environment and tools
  • Application domain experience in information retrieval, information theory, error correction and security, signal processing, or machine learning is a plus

We are looking for someone with:

  • A PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering & Computer Science
  • Excellent mathematical, technical, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A breadth of experience in and ability to develop depth in data structures and algorithm design
  • Experience in analysis of experimental data
