● Take ownership of improving, extending, and maintaining core codec pipelines

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand complex requirements and implement them into core pipelines while maintaining high performance

● Analyze project outcomes, present findings, and propose strategies to both internal and external stakeholders

● Continually stay informed about advancements in software engineering, high-performance architectures, and related technologies for potential innovation

● Publish peer-reviewed articles and file patents for the team’s accomplishments and innovative ideas

We are seeking someone with expertise in the following domains:

● Extensive experience in software development, particularly in languages like C/C++, Python, or similar, in a Linux environment

● Experience with bioinformatics / string processing algorithms in an R&D setting

● Experience with CUDA and multithreaded or distributed programming a plus

● Understanding of algorithm and software design principles as they apply to high-performance computing

● Experience in designing understandable, extensible, scalable, and practical software architectures and implementing them in a time-sensitive setting

● Experience translating theoretical concepts into practical software solutions

● Familiarity with Agile development and automated testing techniques is a plus

We value individuals driven by:

● The excitement of building innovative tools and technologies at the intersection of bioinformatics, algorithms, and parallel processing

● The opportunity to contribute to a supportive and growth-oriented team

● The challenge of sharing knowledge and learning from peers with diverse academic/industry backgrounds

● The prospect of wearing diverse roles as we pioneer the future of high-performance computing solutions

You will also need to:

● Excellent technical communication and inter-personal skills

● Thrive in a fast-paced work environment

● Exhibit creativity and proactivity in problem-solving

● Cooperate effectively within small, cross-disciplinary teams

● Be a dependable team player with strong verbal and written communication skills

● Plan and execute tasks autonomously

We are looking for someone with:

● A Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field, coupled with at least 3 years of industry experience in software development

● Broad experience in software and algorithm design, bioinformatics, and staying current with technology trends in the computing sector

A career at CATALOG will challenge you to think critically and work creatively to conquer new problems in an unexplored and groundbreaking field. To do this, we believe in building an inclusive team with different points of view. CATALOG supports and celebrates diversity in our workforce. We provide competitive compensation packages and benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company matching, and generous PTO.

Note: Even if you don’t meet all of the requirements listed, we encourage you to apply. Think of it more as looking for most of the items listed, not all.
